París acaba de aprobar una nueva ley que permite a cualquier persona tener un huerto urbano o jardín dentro de los límites de la ciudad en cualquier ubicación. Tras pedir un permiso, los parisinos podrán cultivar sus huertos en las paredes, en los tejados, en los jardines, en cualquier lugar, incluso en las jardineras de los árboles en la calle. Pueden cultivar sus alimentos en sus casas u oficinas. Pueden cultivar sus flores, vegetales o frutas. La alcaldesa de París, Anne Hidalgo, pretende crear 100 hectáreas de jardines usando los muros, fachadas y azoteas por toda la ciudad para el año 2020, un tercio de ese espacio dedicado a los huertos urbanos.
Los jardineros deben utilizar métodos sostenibles, evitando pesticidas tóxicos y promoviendo la biodiversidad en la ciudad. Necesitaran un permiso del Ayuntamiento y se deberán comprometer a mantener correctamente sus huertos urbanos y asegurar que la vegetación mejora la estética de la ciudad. La ciudad de París emitirá los permisos para tres años, con la opción de renovación.
La ciudad pidió a los residentes ser creativos con el lugar donde van a hacer crecer sus plantas y les aportará un “kit de siembra” con semillas y tierra vegetal. Dicen que han ofrecido a los residentes algunas sugerencias, pero principalmente esperan que la gente utilice su imaginación para descubrir donde pueden colocar sus jardines y hacer más verde la ciudad.
Funcionarios de la ciudad de París esperan que la ley mejorará la calidad de vida de los habitantes de París y aumentará la belleza de la ciudad. También esperan que pueda ayudar a fortalecer las relaciones con sus vecinos y “crear vínculos sociales” en la ciudad.
Y es que París en particular y Francia en general, están legislando a favor del medio ambiente, con medidas a imitar tales como:
- Francia exige por ley a las nuevas edificaciones techos verdes y paneles solares.
- Francia prohíbe por ley a los supermercados tirar comida a la basura.
- Francia quiere pavimentar 1000 km de sus carretera con paneles solares.
- Los platos, cubiertos, vasos y bolsas de plástico pasan a la historia en Francia.
